Don Carey III

Board President

As a prominent leader in workforce development, non-profit executive, and a longtime resident of Chesapeake, Don Carey has dedicated his life to serving others and has worked tirelessly to make Chesapeake a prosperous and thriving city. He has firsthand experience working directly with the city's diverse communities, bringing together public and private sector partners to build a stronger, healthier, and safer Chesapeake for all families.

Dr. Nathaniel Hughes II, M.D.

Board Vice President

Dr. Nathaniel Hughes is an inspirational leader whose success motivates the masses. Affectionately known as "Skato," Dr. Hughes has proven that you can be both successful in athletics and academics. Nathaniel attended Alcorn State University where he was an All-SWAC athlete in both football and track and field all while excelling academically, receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Nursing. Post college graduation, in 2008, Nate was signed by the Cleveland Browns. Nate spent a total of five years in the NFL, also playing with the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Detroit Lions. 

 

After hanging up his cleats, Nate was accepted into medical school at UMMC School of Medicine in Jackson, Mississippi. Upon completion, Hughes received a Doctor of Medicine degree. Hughes later transitioned to Rutgers University completing his residency. 

 

Dr. Hughes currently specializes in Anesthesiology and Internal Medicine and is the "Super Dad" of three amazing children.

William Fred Marsalis 

Board Treasurer

Experienced Business Manager with over 10 years of experience in retail management and 8 years in governmental accounting/auditing. Skilled in capital asset management, team building, and organizational management with a track record of delivering results and creating positive change.

Dr. Kia Baldwin

Board Secretary

Dr. Kia Baldwin is a graduate of Spelman College and Louisiana State University School of Law. She currently owns and operates a law firm in Ruston, LA where she has practiced law for 19 years. Dr. Baldwin is also an adjunct professor at Grambling State University. In addition to her professional endeavors she has also established and grown several community-based initiatives to house, clothe, feed, counsel and restore the lives of those experiencing homelessness and those recently released from incarceration while also being a fierce advocate for youth to have equal access to quality education.

Attorney Treneisha Jackson-Hill

Board Member

Treneisha Jackson Hill is the daughter of Troy Jackson and Shireda Jackson Morgan. She was born and raised in Shreveport, LA where she currently lives and primarily practices. She graduated from Huntington High School as valedictorian of her class and began her college career at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she received her B.A. in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology. Shortly thereafter, she began studying at Southern University Law Center where she received her J.D. in 2011.

 

Upon graduating law school, she returned to Shreveport and began working as a law clerk for Judge John Mosely and Judge Ramon Lafitte. In 2012, she accepted a position with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office where she worked as an Assistant District Attorney for almost 11 years. While employed there she worked as a misdemeanor assistant, felony assistant, section chief, appellate attorney, and a Special Prosecutor. Prior to leaving the office, she was responsible for trying homicides, sexual assault cases, and high profile matters handled by the office. She’s married to attorney Kerry Hill and together they have three children, a son and two daughters. Recently, she joined forces with her husband in private practice where they own and operate the Hill Law Firm, LLC. In her community she’s worked as a teen mentor for Volunteers for Youth Justice and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Mrs. Hill enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends as well as serving the people of Caddo parish.

Doriecia Washington

Board Member

Doriecia Z. Washington, she serves as the Registration Information Specialist in the Office of the Registrar and Records at Jackson State University. Doriecia has worked in higher education for over seven years and has worked in the school-based setting advocating for youth within the MS-Lou area. Doriecia’s love and dedication for the youth, led her to found a mentorship organization entitled, Pretty With A Purpose; Educate, Encourage, Embrace, for young ladies in grades 7th-12th on but not limited to college readiness, sex education, and community service just to name a few. 

 

Doriecia is a native of Natchez, MS., where she graduated from Natchez High School in 2009, attended and graduated from Tougaloo College in 2013 with her Bachelor of Arts degree and later from Belhaven University in 2015 with a Masters in Public Administration. She is a member of Word of Faith Ambassadors Worship Center in Natchez, MS., under the leadership of Bishop Robert Cade, Pastor Betty Cade, and Pastor Robbie Cade-Furdge. Doriecia is the mother to two beautiful daughters, Brooke and Jahari. 

Robbie Cade Furdge

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Robbie Cade-Furdge is an inspirational leader, motivational speaker, business strategist and life coach whose impact and influence has no limit. Being raised in an athletic household, Robbie’s knows the value of building solid teams, developing game-winning plans, working with others and the importance of WINNING as a TEAM.

 

A proud graduate of Alcorn State University, Robbie currently serves as an educational consultant, a business consultant, a project manager and life coach for professional athletes. With a passion for entrepreneurship and small business development, Robbie is a serial entrepreneur. 

 

Dr. Robbie serves as a Commissioner for the NCPC. She is member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She currently serves as Executive Senior Pastor at Word of Faith Ambassadors Outreach Center. Dr. Robbie is the wife of Dr. Maurice Furdge and the proud mother of Michael.

Jessica Harris, pHD

Chief Operating Officer

Jessica Harris is an astrophysicist, educator, and mentor. She is the owner and Founder of Jessica A. Harris, LLC.  Her consulting firm specializes in the areas of education and outreach, diversity, equity and inclusion, Adult Mental Health First Aid instructor, and mentoring through Auntie Jess programming.
